Second Law of Hogwash The hacks of mainstream science would have us believe that the Universe is doomed to extinction, because of the `2nd Law of Thermodynamics'. That "law" says "In heat systems entropy (disorder) increases". That is, `in a closed environment energy differences gradually smooth out' or `ordered states degenerate to a disordered state'. As a result the science-hacks said the Universe _must_ die from cold, claiming galaxies would disperse and stars die out. [They had alternative version where Universe collapsed in `Big Crunch' - extinction by heat.] Rubbish! There are three different "forces" that oppose fatal increases in entropy in the Universe - 1) Life; 2) Gravity; 3) UEF (jet phenomena). `Life' successfully opposes entropy-increase, on all the levels we find it, up to planetary ecosystem size (at this time). And if we do eventually qualify as Type I civilization, then we will ourselves be opposing the increase of entropy, on whole planet. If we get to Type II, then ditto for the Galaxy and so on. [ See http://www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/define.html ] `Gravity' opposes entropy-increase by pulling matter together, that's increasing an ordered state. And, just in case the hacks say "Well, that means all galaxies first collide _then die out" - it doesn't work that way. Gravity works as an attractive force, but weakening up to a size threshold that seems to be about Super-Cluster size (att). Above that threshold it flips, becoming a repulsive force that negates any suggestion of a "Big Crunch" [ BTW - forget talk about "galactic collisions" bringing destruction - those don't work that way either. When small galaxies _are_ drawn into the ambit of larger ones, their stars simply take up different long- term trajectories. Overall the effect is like two clouds of cigarette smoke merging. No real collisions at all. ] `UEF jets' - see http://www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/jets.html mean that material from a mass of sufficient density and rotation- speed will "jet". For all practical purposes this means neutron stars, certain galactic cores and suchlike. Fortunately these are out of our technological reach and should be for many generations. But this also means that most star-matter gradually gets re-cycled. No - no danger, even a galaxy with a jetting core will be mostly unaware - only the central core is doing the jetting. And those jets, from N and S poles of the core (so leaving the galaxy directly), have a huge range, many hundreds or thousands of light-years in some cases. That, coupled with UEF's theorised `matter-replacement - see http://www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/smt.html - will more than ensure that the average density of the Universe will be maintained, or even increased. [ Any more than one atom per cubic meter in ten billion years will do it. ] ----------------------------------------------------- Note 1: Still not fully recognized by science hacks: The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics was `repealed' as absolute law of nature when Max Planck made his desperate - and successful - bid to find a theoretical (mathematical) way to reconcile electro-magnetic radiation (emr) formulae with experimentally observed facts. Planck said (some time before getting the Nobel Prize for this highly disputed breakthrough) - "the whole procedure was an act of despair because a theoretical interpretation had to be found at any price, no matter how high that might be". That price was rejecting his belief that the second law of thermodynamics was an absolute law of nature (instead he accepted Boltzmann's interpretation that it was a purely statistical "law").
