`Science' literature - mostly written by posers who've read a lot of books but understood little - continually throws up the words "phenotype" and "genotype" - Pah! We all know what a "phenomenon" is. When you stub your toe, that's a "phenomenon" - something that exists in the real, physically recognizable world. So a "phenotype" is therefore supposed to be an complete "being" - an animal or human which is supposedly the expression (or "product") of a genetic pattern (or "genotype"). But that "phenotype" or set of circumstances that enables the being to exist could, in the case of a human being, include _all_ of their ancestors and _all_ of their environmments, right up to the present day. -------- On the other hand a "genotype" would seem to be simple. It's straight code. A piece of DNA - or any other genetic material (we don't know what other beings use for genes) - which says "when dictated by temperature, chemical or other signal, you will produce this protein". So a genotype is straight code - Yes? Yes - the genotype of the scientists is straight DNA code. ----------- However the `scientists' are woefully ignorant of reality see http://www.perceptions.couk.com/blinded.html There are _no_ DNA codes that do not completely rely on constant input and feedback - from the environment - to do their work properly. That environment consists of "phenotypes" -------- But there does exist an environment where a genotype exists free of all physical constraints, and where its phenotype (its physical expression) is identical. One such is `information space' - either inside a computer see http://www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/wb2.html#parasites or maybe in our own - energy rich - external universe. -------------------------------- FURTHER REFERENCES GO - "search perceptions" - in SEARCH-ENGINE file-ID www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/infospce.txt
