Subject: Get ready for second total lunar eclipse of 2007 Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2007 11:36:51 +0100 http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Get_ready_for_second_total_lunar_ec_08262007.html The Moon will fall into the Earth's deep shadow on Tuesday, taking on a lustrous red or orange hue during the second total eclipse of 2007. Star gazers in east Asia and across the Americas will be able to watch as our planet's natural satellite is consumed by celestial dragons, as the Chinese once thought." - They didn't mention that Venus has just passed the Sun, from our POV, and as the Moon swings around behind us it'll line-up Moon - Earth - Venus just before it gets into `Full' position (Moon - Earth - Sun), at 10.37 UTC on 28th (so about 4 - 6 o'clock a.m. to most of you in the States. So by the time the eclipse is under way the Moon - Venus line-up will have already started some quake triggers. Ray PS - No wonder these alignments are feared in legends, the ancients were smarter than we think --- Subject: Re: Dreamy Lunar Eclipse Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2007 01:37:45 +0100 ----- Original Message ----- From: "NASA Science News (by way of Rob Solarion)" >Mark your calendar: On Tuesday, August 28th, there's going to be >a dreamy, colorful, total eclipse of the Moon. >http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/03aug_dreamyeclipse.htm?list986977 Yup, and that means - for a day or so before - the Moon will have lined up with Earth and the nearby passing Venus. We've already seen what damage a nearby Venus can wreak on Earth - when the Moon lines up with it, or even just Venus coming between Earth and the Sun: we can get earthquakes sweeping along the line of occultations, even if it's only a virtual occultation. So maybe mid-August (the forecast is for triggers from 12th / 13th onwards for a week or two) won't be all of our worries. If that's the cause, it's not good news for 2 weeks' time - about from the 12th to 14th we should expect a period of triggers to start which might last a week or more and could be quite strong. Ray --- Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2007 01:11:10 +0100 Subject: New Moon on 14th - then Venus New Moon at 12:05 UTC (early morning for most of you) on the 14th July then Moon swings around to line up with approaching Venus (halfway into first quarter - say about 18th) so could be some extra triggers around then Ray --- Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2007 08:46:27 +0100 From: "Ray D" Subject: [Crossover2012] Quake update - California gets notice So far today (it's only 08:30 'ish) 4.8 2007/07/17 04:13:50 GULF OF CALIFORNIA 4.9 2007/07/17 02:47:21 NEAR THE COAST OF NICARAGUA 4.6 2007/07/17 00:49:46 GULF OF CALIFORNIA 5.1 2007/07/17 00:06:01 WESTERN INDIAN-ANTARCTIC RIDGE - and am still concerned about tomorrow onwards for a few days Next really worrying period is August 12 / 13 onwards for some days - it's the 8 year (Venus cycle) anniversary of 1999 August eclipse and massive quakes (following line of eclipse shadow) probably triggered by added presence of Venus in line with the Sun and Moon. Although there's no eclipse this time (Moon has a longer cycle of about 19 years), the New Moon is about midnight UTC on 12th Aug and during next 24 hours a very close-by Venus is almost directly in line with Moon and Earth. Ray --- [Don't forget - I almost always do - that New Moon seismic events seem delayed by a day or two compared to Full Moon events, which can often happen same day or within 24 - 48 hours. Try www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/ueforc.txt which has an 80 year back-check. ] --- Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2007 18:35:58 +0100 New Moon at 11:37 UTC (GMT) [17 April] and as always there's possibilities of triggers up to a day before, and several days' triggers after - Then Moon comes into line with approaching Venus [This might get significant as Venus gets closer later on - this year is synchronization year (every 8 yrs for Venus) with the catastrophic Venus alignment after the August 99 eclipse - thousands were killed in east Med / Turkey and Taiwan / Japan. As you might expect, the big danger dates are again around the 11th August but there's always chances of Moon alignments with Venus at the quarters, for at least a month before and after that date.] Present Venus line-up is around `first quarter' so the trigger period's about 21st - 25th [April] & maybe a day or so later. cheers Ray --- If you want an on-line (or a down-loadable) ORRERY so you can see all the alignments - online - http://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/uncgi/Solar/action?sys=-Sf downloadable - http://www.fourmilab.ch/homeplanet/ --- Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2007 10:20:30 +0100 ----- Original Message ----- From: >Interesting. We'll see if there are any quakes round then. A good place to get an idea of `regular' activity is the USGS `all quakes' page http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php It seems not to have quite settled down after last period yet - think normal quiet days have only about 10 - 15 or so qualifying quakes but as you can see it's been over that recently (to look back a month you can go to http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/qed/ only that's a slightly different format and they delete some of the quakes from "all quakes" weekly page, probably because USGS has some differences in how they cover US and non-US quakes) There's lots of detail to play with, like clicking on "MAP" will give you a small map, while clicking on the date will give you the "details" page where you can then click on "Maps" again and get more maps, inc. a Google Map, of the quake. Have fun Ray BTW (as far as is known) this Moon (17th) is a `normal' one but even normal full and new moons push the activity up - check that weekly USGS page over next few days. And maybe make a date to be somewhere safe on August 10th onwards for a week or so. ------------------------------------------------ More details at www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/checkalign.html ------------------------------------------------ FURTHER REFERENCES GO - "search perceptions" - in SEARCH-ENGINE file-ID www.perceptions.couk.com/uef/align-apr07.txt
