truth is authority

                      authority is not truth

 The human psyche - perhaps alone among Earth animals' - has expanded so much
 and so speedily that a lacuna or hole has formed at its heart - an emptiness
 which threatens its stability.

 Some try to fill it with `worship of science' or `worship of religion'. Either
 will fit - but not both.

 Others opt for `patriotic racism' and `political fervor' - small enough that
 both can be included, along with all their corruptions and psychoses.

 However the subconscious, more discerning, suspects these are chimeras, mere
 whisps of human make-believe and pretences.

 So the subconscious, fearful of the collapse of the psyche, continues the search
 for something stronger and greater - as yet unknown.
