Both recent "great problems" in UK have same cause - incompetence and corruption.

 1) Flooding
 We have records of rainfall going back centuries.  Now, under only moderate rain,
 UK suffers catastrophic inland flooding.  Residents can testify that much greater
 rainfalls a generation or so ago did _not_ result in huge flooding.

 Why the changes?  UK's various gov'ts have conspired, over last 50 or 60 years,
 to steal poor peoples taxes and give the money to the rich as `drainage grants'
 and `land improvement grants' - which inevitably increase the speed of run-off
 of rainwater.

 These effects, along with unprincipled and ignorant `development' by local gov't
 who dangerously, and wrongly believe that `concrete is easier than care', [and
 hire cheap contractors who won't maintain road drains, ditches and dykes] have
 placed even traditionally safe towns and whole districts in danger of flash
 flooding.

 Gov't (and the rich) have created `flooding'.

 2) `Terrorism'
 It's become obvious that, after the collapse of the `Cold War', USA and UK
 leaders wanted and indeed _needed_ new `enemies' to justify their continuing
 misuse of tax-payers' money and the high profit-making of their pals in the
 military-industrial complex.

 Vatican, to provoke hatred. That shouldn't surprise us - same things
 happened in 1930's and ever since.
