'Weekend jail' scheme scrapped

Ministers are abandoning intermittent custody pilot schemes which began just two years ago,
the Home Office has announced.

The projects, also known as "weekend prison", allowed non-dangerous offenders to spend part
of the week behind bars and part outside jail, to hold down jobs or family duties.

The sentences will be withdrawn on November 20, a Home Office spokesman said.

 "Perceptions" note

 Understand the purpose of giving non-dangerous folk that option - well used in Europe
 (we have a note of established use in the '60s) - is to allow women to keep their
 families intact, and preserve jobs for both men and women (loss of either or both of
 these is the biggest cause of re-offending and a descent into habitual ofending).

 Why scrap this maybe vital scheme which hadn't even been properly tried?
 They gave two reasons (02 Nov '06 BBC R4)

 1) it wasn't `convenient' for the prison service;

 2) the magistrates and judges have ignored the scheme, apparently they prefer to ruin
 the whole of person's life and to create a permanent offender.

 We've observed before - it seems that `volunteers for authority' who get to be
 judges, magistrates, prison and police-chiefs are predominantly pervert - in the UK.

 Magistrates are too often complicit with local gov't officials (many bullies, thugs
 and pervs among them) and tax-fraud councillors. No suprise, so are the national
 political class.  And all are tax-thieves, stealing from the poorer people that they
 want to have power over, which maybe is something to do with it.

 That gov't `decision' shows that UK is ruled by perverts - because elite fraudsters,
 drug dealers and criminal pervs (yes - they're mainly linked and from one social stratum)
 are allowed protected `privacy' and total freedom by corrupt police-chiefs and judges
 (and politicians) with same habits.

 A sensible country would not send non-dangerous folk to prison anyway. Jails would
 be reserved for congenital murderers, rapists and pedophiles, and once identified
 and proven, they would not be allowed to walk free - ever.

 But that won't happen in UK - too many of the pervs are in positions of power.
