Just imagine you're rulers of a country.

  Like all rulers - for the last five thousand years till now anyway - you're
  necessarily privileged, cheating, and probably pervert.

  You find that occupying your angry neighbors' border areas will not bring
  `security'.

  You then find that relinquishing your angry neighbors' border areas will not
  bring `security' either.

 [But trying those operations has caused the deaths and maimings of thousands
  of innocent people - making those neighbors even more angry]

  There are only two (apparently) possible solutions remaining -

  1) combine with a corrupt, psychotic and merciless `superpower' to dominate
  the Earth, and imprison, torture or kill all those who want equality or
  freedom;

  2) learn to behave decently and honestly towards all people, and thereby
  make peace with your neighbors.


  Which solution do you think privileged, cheating and pervert rulers choose?

  Right.  That's what's happened for the last five thousand years or so.
