Hi Eleanor, I think you're right that first time. A long view seems to show ISPs have improved spam detection and filtering so much that an 'ordinary' address can be almost spam-free, and even at peak of spam-war (two-four years ago?) an 'ordinary' address would've only gotten a few tens to a few hundreds per day. Here's a recent BBC experiment which backs that up http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/click_online/6598521.stm But the situation is different for an address associated with a web-site seen as critical of 'authority'. It could be getting a thousand or two 'spams' per day, with occasional much bigger peaks. Which makes you wonder. Mathaba.net has some info on 'authority' hackers and spammers: http://www.mathaba.net/0_index.shtml?x=538345 "The JFCCNW is a group of hackers from the CIA, FBI, NSA, military, etc. who are dedicated to engaging in cyber attacks (Lasker)." and here's more from Lasker at 'Wired': http://wired-vig.wired.com/politics/security/news/2005/04/67223 more details in "hygiene warn.txt" in Google Search Cheers Ray D ------------------------------------------------ FURTHER REFERENCES GO - "search perceptions" - in SEARCH-ENGINE file-ID www.perceptions.couk.com/qanda-spam.txt
