A recent spate of sightings over a period of a week, over Wrexham in North East Wales has prompted great interest. Soon after, debunkers and sceptics blamed sky or chinese lanterns, despite the object(s) / formation appearing nightly at the same time.
Public interest did not wane, so three lanterns suddenly appeared in a farmer's field. The find was condemned as the chances of just two coming down together after travelling miles is most unlikely. For three to come down yards apart defies belief. When this didn't kill interest, another 'witness' announced on the Forum of the Wrexham Evening Leader that he'd seen a fourth come down in a field - wait for it - exactly where the bulk of witnesses observed the nightly show.
Of course the lantern was not recovered. It is my belief that the three found on farmland were planted there by persons unknown to subvert the interest shown. I have reason to belief the sighting of a crashing fourth was a lie.
I ask if other UFO enthusiasts could let me know if they have ever heard of attempts to deliberately plant lanterns to undermine mass interest in sightings. Dear UFO Enthusiast, it seems that Chinese Sky Lanterns are the now the preferred weapon in the debunker's kit bag. It seems that the economy is crumbling, but the trade in these lanterns is obviously bucking the trend and thriving. I suggest that you all buy shares in this wonderful industry! Seriously though, far too many sightings are being blamed on these devices. The authorities and some parts of the media are happy to use them to play down sightings, but far too frequently, especially in multiple sightings, few people are identified as being responsible for genuine lantern releases.... I urge enthusiasts not to accept any media or other reports of lanterns being attributable to sightings when no obvious source such as a party, can be found. Regards

I am pleased to communicate to broadcast, published, planning
etc. .... the Calendar 2008 - 2009 of ufology `repas' in France.
It is as you can guess the timing estimate, because with
the vagaries of life, considering the already significant number of Repas
currently in place, it may be some adjustments during the year,
but are generally very minor.

I'd love to recommend this program from CBC (Canada) as special series all about rethinking science. There is an ipod cast on Rupert Sheldrake.
Rupert Sheldrake published A New Science of Life. The book argued that genes alone were not enough to account for life's intricate patterns of form and behaviour. There must be, Sheldrake suggested, some sort of form-giving field that holds the memory of each thing's proper shape - he called it a morphogenetic field.
