Wealth gap widens under Labour THE gap between the rich and the poor has widened since Labour came to power and last year reached the same depth as at the end of Margaret Thatcher's term in office. According to the Office for National Statistics, the Gini co-efficient - a complicated mathematical formula - shows that the gap has increased. Under the formula, zero represents everyone getting the same income, while 100 means all the money is in one person's pocket. The income distribution rating in 1995-96 was 33, rising to 34 in 1996-97, the final year of John Major's Government. It rose to 35 in 1998-99, its highest rate since 1990, the last year of Mrs Thatcher's time as Prime Minister. The poor are taxed even higher - mostly in indirect (invisible) taxes like VAT, but also by a grossly unfair "property tax" which actually taxes highest those who have least property. A poor person in rented accomodation is taxed at 1000% (TEN TIMES) their real property value (only furniture and clothes on their backs) per year, sometimes per month. [ The 'property tax' (called "council tax") is 'banded' that is, it takes highest percentage from the _lowest_ value properties but immorally sets a _maximum_ limit for the rich - so the _really_ rich pay almost zero percent of their property value ] [Note - this immoral trick of low maximum payments for the rich is also used to invisibly cut the DIRECT taxes the rich should be paying - as we ordinary people have to pay them. It's called the "National Insurance ceiling" another cloaking phrase from a corrupt English senior civil service ] The immoral (& possibly illegal) property taxes hit hardest in North England, Wales, and the working-class areas of Scotland and South-West England, where property values are lower. These are the people traditionally regarded by the English elite as 'the workers' and, historically as 'the subjugated' [Nowadays subjugated by highly-paid - and therefore corrupt - senior civil -servants and senior policemen ] But that same [English] gov't takes less than 0.1% in property tax from the really rich [English land-and company-owning elite]. Direct taxes in the UK follow the same approximate profile. But the top UK media are given secret tax privileges to ensure they never tell the truth about UK taxes - ask Jimmy Young, Terry Wogan and Nicky Campbell ! ---- maybe see www.perceptions.couk.com/reptiles.txt for further admissions ---- A quick survey of criminals (pervs and frauds) in UK politics is at www.perceptions.couk.com/#uk-crims (Front Page) ---- evidence page for:- www.perceptions.couk.com/tax.html & links www.perceptions.couk.com/enghoo.html www.perceptions.couk.com/devils.html www.perceptions.couk.com/coverup.html www.perceptions.couk.com/morals.html ------------------------------------------------ FURTHER REFERENCES GO - "search perceptions" - in SEARCH-ENGINE file-ID www.perceptions.couk.com/lowages.txt
