Lawyers: solicitors & barristers, like all powerful corrupt groups, claim `self-regulation' is sufficient

Logically, this means they are motivated to hide incompetence and dishonesty - since the `regulators' belong to the profession and carry psycho-baggage of self protection and self justification in face of complaint or opposition from "civilians" - ordinary people harmed by legal malpractice

However, due to growing flood of complaints of dishonesty the Legal Services Ombudsman has been forced to tell the various UK `regulators' to clean-up their act
(but only a little - most politicians are also lawyers)

In England you should be able to find out if your solicitor has a bad history - lots & lots of complaints of dishonesty - via
