Objective research into supernatural beliefs is now possible -

a) Of all animals only humans have developed written history, passing on to posterity data and conclusions by systems of writing.

Language analysis indicates writing originated much earlier than previously thought, probably in one geographical region

b) Of all animals, seemingly only humans have developed beliefs, passing on to posterity data and conclusions by systems of respect for the supernatural: worship

Cultural and archeological research indicates moral beliefs originated much earlier than previously thought, probably in one geographical region

Why one time and region could trigger both phenomena.

It is suggested that the trigger was the opportunity to record:-

a) parentage and descent of families - creating lineages;

b) outcomes of social behavior; deriving taboos ^ref-71 against species-damaging actions. I.e. incest, pedophilia, slave-holding and, world-wide, against usury. ^ref-72

The types of behavior which were eventually found to be deforming and lethal - to the descendants of perpetrators.
