| Beliefs?
Our differing beliefs often seem formed by our local surroundings - suburbia / city / farmland / jungle / desert / mountains - and by our local habits - remember, as a child, that shock of seeing another family's slightly different domestic set-up? - And those beliefs are easily influenced through information (via media) and law (via gov't). For instance, while the UK Gov't simply lied, claiming there was "no threat to security" - - it was widely reported by USA mainstream media (presumably as a threat) that - - US military personnel will be jailed if they discuss sightings of anomalous craft [UFOs]; and that - US citizens will be incarcerated, indefinitely, if suspected of being contacted (contaminated) by `extraterrestrial biological entities' [ETs]. Yet the same gov'ts and same media continue to deny the existence of UFOs or ETs! - Wonder what someone from a non-Earth background thinks of such lies - or `contradictory beliefs'. "Perceptions" Item "HABITABLE ZONE" - Term tends to be used by blind-scientists, probably at the behest of politicians, to justify Earth-chauvinism. Their definitions are rigged to force the `answers' needed. However, that false hypothesis demands contradictions, even within the Solar System. Their answer for Solar System needs to be `Earth' No nearer to the Sun and no farther away. But that is nonsense. Earth is not even in such a `habitable zone'; the temperature here was too low for their definition of habitability and would be now - if not for the accidental onset of greenhouse effects which have recently kept Earth* comfortable for us humans - along with the production of oxygen by earlier Earth-life - our anaerobic predecessors. While there exist perfectly habitable zones, for many recognized forms of life, much closer to the Sun - and much further away - than Earth's orbit. Several outer gas giants' moons have reasonable temperatures, renewable energy and water! And further change to the greenhouse effect of Venus could result in comfortable temperatures for even picky humans, though some intelligent life might like present Venusian climate! - Update: We can find bacteria, invertebrates & mollusks living on deep sea vents, under huge pressures, where water emerges at 750º F. I.e. - in a `non-habitable' zone ! Only a stupid chauvinist would demand such circular reasoning, but many humans do just that, proving our point. A more intelligent definition might say there are probably `evolutionary zones' where (our, known) forms of life would be more likely to originate. Let's face it, our `evolutionary zone' was the Ocean but we learned to live on dry land. But even that premise is vague and probably over-pessimistic, and will be for many generations, maybe millennia. Why? We know less than 1% of the data in the Universe and have virtually no grounds to exclude any possible form of life. I.e. `intelligent life' is maybe defined as: `capable of logical thought' and also as: `possessing self-consciousness' but not murderously, suicidally greedy! So humans, or rather our rulers, don't yet qualify as `intelligent'. Why - Conscious - SETI - Further out - Speculation If `thought' is gathering and using information, and `communication' is transfer of information, then intelligent, communicating life might be expected in all settings, even in some settings that we presently think of as non-material, but which have levels of energy that would enable both `intelligent thought' and `communication'.
