Evidence for later anthropologists, exobiologists. Re: cycles of "ownership" of Arts, Sciences. We now have recordings of spoken word, music etc. This will prevent many of the misunderstandings and mutations of past speech and music. History tells us that in the West (Europe and America) artists and musicians were at the bottom of the social pyramid. Traditionally actors, male and female, were described as "thievish and wanton" while bards & musicians were merely the "property" of rulers. You might remember a German (or Scandinavian) despot who kept his poor musicians confined in a dark cellar below the banqueting hall. If he wanted music - the trapdoors were opened and the orchestra had to play. Only recently, at a certain stage of wealth and education have the talents of gifted people begun to be appreciated. But within last few generations the rich have appropriated the newly recognized "talented professions" - just as they did earlier when reserving for themselves the "guaranteed easy income" professions of church, politics, bureaucracy and the law. But elites lack talent. Which is why the "guaranteed easy income" professions are notoriously incompetent in all societies. And particularly so in Britain. Now we have quality sound-recordings, later historians should be able to identfy the end-cycle of a wealthy elite. Contemporary classical music has become discordant rubbish since the "elite" has taken it over - just as the sciences have become exclusive, defensive and stultified. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Evidence page for http://www.perceptions.couk.com/thedome.html http://www.perceptions.couk.com/medical.html#incompetence http://www.perceptions.couk.com/chiefly.html - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - FURTHER REFERENCES GO - "search perceptions" - in SEARCH-ENGINE file-ID www.perceptions.couk.com/evid.txt
