1 in 10 top police faces suspension By David Bamber, Home Affairs Correspondent Filed: 09/09/2001 ONE in 10 senior police officers in England and Wales are currently facing criminal or disciplinary charges, The Telegraph can reveal. The Police Superintendents' Association (PSA) will this week release figures at its annual conference in Warwickshire revealing that 101 superintendents are suspended from duty or are working under a cloud of suspicion. In some forces as many as one in five superintendents are being investigated by other police officers for criminal or disciplinary matters. In comparison, less than one per cent of the population is under investigation at any one time by the police. Chief Supt Kevin Morris, the president of the PSA, will tell his members this week that he fears a day when it will become hard for the public to tell the criminals and police apart. 7 September 2001: Death police 'should be grounded' 17 August 2001: Force bans policeman from resigning Extract from "The Telegraph" (traditionally an establishment English broadsheet) http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2001/09/09/npc09.xml&sSheet=/news/2001/09/09/ixhome.html ------------------------------------------------------------ 'Perceptions' has a message for the PSA:- `Public has a hard time telling police and criminals apart NOW' From our conclusions at http://www.perceptions.couk.com/authority8.txt which is a note for http://www.perceptions.couk.com/laworjustice.html http://www.perceptions.couk.com/warning.html http://www.perceptions.couk.com/warning2.html where we warned of more bullies, rapists, perverts and murderers within the white male police force than in the general population.
